Laptop Essentials
Laptop Essentials by Dmitriy Zasyatkin
Laptops can be great, but they require a few extra things that desktops don’t need. Here is my list of things that I recommend to everyone with a laptop:
Cooling Pad
Laptops are packed full of electronics, and all those electronic components produce a lot of heat, especially the battery. The heat is more than just annoying discomfort, its also destructive to your laptop. Using a cooling pad, even a passive one, will help tremendously with making your laptop run cooler. There are a lot of different cooling pad products, so you have lots of options. Personally, I use this Logitech one.
Mouse
Some people like to use the little finger pad built in to their laptops, but I believe that a mouse is much more efficient. There are lots of mice specially made to be able to fit in your laptop bag, like this Logitech mouse that I use. If you can afford it, I recommend this Logitech VX Nano mouse
Extra Battery
Laptops usually come with the cheapest possible battery, so investing in a more potent battery will greatly increase your battery life and you will be able to have an extra battery to take with you.
Car Charger/Power Inverter
If you travel via car, consider getting a power inverter to be able to plug in and charge any kind of electronics in the car. A power inverter is just a little box with a standard power outlet in it, that uses your car’s 12 volt cigarette lighter/plug for power. It converts the 12 volts into 120 volts, so you can plug anything into it. The only limit is how many Watts it can handle, so you can’t plug in a mini-fridge into a power inverter thats only meant to handle small electronics. I recommend this Duracell 175 Watt Pocket Power Source Inverter, because its small, relatively-stylish and inexpensive.
